The Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Friday joined the rest of the world to celebrate this year’s Workers’ Day, with a renewed call for dedication, diligence and commitment to public service.The event whch held at the council’s headquarters brought together staff and top government functionaries in a show of solidarity with workers across the local government.
Representing the Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA, the Vice Chairman, Dr. Joyce Nyeche commended workers for their resilience, loyalty and contributions to the growth and development of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
She noted that the administration remains committed to improving the welfare of workers, stressing that their role remains pivotal to effective governance and service delivery at the grassroots.
Dr. Nyeche further assured that the leadership of the council would continue to prioritize policies and programs that enhance productivity and staff welfare.
Also in attendance were the Secretary of Council, Hon. Dr. Kelvin Akani; the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Sunny Nyeche, the Head of Personnel Management and other senior officials of the council.
The Workers’ Day celebration observed annually on May 1, is dedicated to honouring the contributions of workers and promoting their rights and welfare across all sectors.
